Todd Miller the "Peter Pan" of the big band world.

Todd was born in Clifton near Manchester and began singing with his own pop group before he left School. On leaving School he trained as an engineer and sang with his group in the evening.

On completing his enginerring course and hearing that the streets of London were paved with gold, he followed in the tracks of Dick Whittington and made his way to London in seach of fame and fortune.

In 1972, after spending a year with Ken Mackintosh at the Famous Hammersmith Palais, he was invited to join Joe Loss and his Orchestra, (humour him when he claims that he was eight at the time!) who were appearing at the Stardust Gardens, in Blackpool. A young lad who wouldn't stop singing even when he was off stage. Todd has since became known as the Ken Dodd of the Big Band business, as once he is on stage, you can't get him off. His wife Val tells us that when Todd arrives home from a gig he goes in the kitchen, opens the fridge door and sees the light come on, and does another 20 mins.

However, back in 1989, by then having developed into a world class Singer/Entertainer in all style's, he was thrown into the deep end, when Joe was taken ill during a world cruise. Todd fronted the band for the rest of the cruise and for the whole of 1989.

Pretty soon it became odvious that a new leader had emerged, Todd remained with the orchestra as lead singer until Joe was not allowed to travel. Joe then asked Todd to carry the Orchestra on, and into the furture.

Since taking over the leadership, Todd has continued to tour and sucessfully entertain audiences throughout the UK, Europe and on board the QE2. On many visits to Buckingham Palace, Todd is proud and delighted to have been presented to Her Majesty the Queen on 11 occasions.

Todd has also experienced many more Royal occasions - including two Royal Weddings and two command Performances. He has pefromed live on BBC1, ITV, Channel4, Sky and Hong Kong TV and has broadcast on Radio 1 and 2, plus many independent and local radio stations. Touring has also taken him to every major Theatre, Ballroom and Hotel in Britain.

This is the photograph Todd submitted when asked for a picture of himself in 1972. Nice try, Todd.

A personal message from Todd.

Since joining The Orchestra in 1972, I have experienced 14 World Tours, 2 Royal Weddings, performing live on all the major Radio and TV Stations, many Royal Command performances and all the major venues throughout the UK.

Even with all that experience and my own enthusiasm, the continued success of the Joe Loss tradition during my last ten years as Leader would have been impossible without the great help of Sam, the dedication of all the members of the Orchestra, and of course all our wonderful fans.

My sincere thanks to you all.

Todd.
